Agriculture accounts for approximately 70% of global freshwater use, yet many farms still rely on inefficient irrigation practices that waste water and fertilizer while increasing emissions.
Verdi is an agricultural technology company that helps growers optimize irrigation through a combination of hardware and software. The company’s smart valves and proprietary analytics platform integrate climate, soil, and crop data to deliver precise irrigation recommendations at the plant level.
By enabling farms to deliver exactly the amount of water crops need, Verdi helps growers improve yields while reducing water use, fertilizer inputs, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Focus Area: Climate-smart agriculture & water conservation (SDG 6, SDG 13)
Deal size: $50,000
Year: 2022
In 2022, Verdi was looking to scale its precision irrigation technology and expand deployments across agricultural markets.

Following a rapid yet thorough due diligence process, the Vancouver Propel Impact Fellowship team invested $50,000 in Verdi in September 2022.
Since, Verdi has grown rapidly, adding 17 crop types under management and major customers, such as Dole. Through its platform, Verdi helped farms save over 100 million litres of water in 2024 alone. In 2025, the company raised an oversubscribed $4.6M seed round.
